Akron, Ohio Tournament - Fists Against Hunger3/29/2005 -- On March 18th, 2005 David Chin's Kung Fu Center participated in the Fists Against Hunger Competition at the J. S. Knight Center in Akron, OH. Representing Sifu Chin's school were Chris Hientzman, Robert Bradley, and Steve Breedlove. While all three performed admirably, it was Chris Hientzman's bout in the Heavyweight Division against Mark "The Shark" Miller that provided the most interest: "The Shark" was a formidable opponent with an impressive fight record of 16 fights, 4 losses, and 10 wins by K.O. Chris Hientzman, however, remained in control throughout the match and one minute twenty-seven seconds later won the bout by TKO. A practitioner of Tibetan Hop Gar and Kuo Lien Ying - Yang style T'ai Chi, Mr. Hientzman teaches both disciplines in Fayetteville and Pittsboro, NC under the auspices of Grandmaster David Chin. He has also fought in many full contact competitions, but the bout in Ohio marks his formal entrance into the professional fighting ring. The bout also gave him the opportunity to demonstrate that coming from a "Kung Fu only" school is not a hindrance, and that Kung Fu stylists can be formidable opponents, deserving their place in the professional arena. A few scenes from the tournament follow:
